Luxembourg Part 2
My trip to Luxembourg
When I was on language training in Paris, then came the question of where to go at the weekend. The options we had a few: Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, or just go to the ocean. The most interesting options for me were Rome and Luxembourg. Option on the ocean I did go, but it was hard to decide where to go, because the cities to visit on the coast so much and so many beautiful places that I like.
In Rome, my friend lived acquaintance that we organize a free guided tour through the city could. But approached from the fact that not everyone enough money to had the fare to Rome to pay back, is not that option. Why we chose
Luxembourg, rather than Belgium, Holland or Germany? Probably because one of us was in Belgium, someone was in Holland, but someone already had time to visit Germany. But no one was in Luxembourg. So we went to the station to buy tickets to Luxembourg.
I like traveling in Europe, because if you are under 26 and pre book tickets, then you can buy it for a low price. If we had time, and we pre-booked tickets, it would go, and in Rome. But by the weekend has two days, and round-trip ticket costs 150 euros.
Getting Started Luxembourg
For us it began with the station. Early in the morning we left the train and went to the station.
Tip: If you the first time in a strange town looking for a tourist office where you are told about all the local attractions to the map of supply and have a nice trip. One thing you must speak at least English or the language of the country where you eat. :)
Watching the internet pictures of Luxembourg, I expected to find themselves, if not exactly in the mountains, the hilly terrain. But after leaving the station, I have not found anything like this. The truth was that had to elapse before the old part of town, to all of us that show photos on the internet, the tourists visit the city.
All day we walked around the city in view of its attractions. Once the car was filled with Russian figures, still driving along a deserted street, on Saturday, life in the city, wandered through the city as much as we are tourists. Residents seemed to favor their own travel, or just sit home and relax.
I will promote the city. I can only say that if you have old buildings, like you is walking its narrow streets, then you can go to Luxembourg and the city you should definitely appear. But besides the beauty around us, so we do not know about the city. Too bad, should be in this city a very checkered history. In my next trip to Luxembourg, I always well prepared, or just use a tourist trip, which tell the history of the city you give me a guide.
After a walk around the city all day in the evening we had a bite in the coffee, and returned to the station, where we waited for the final surprise. If you went to the TGV, you should know that before you get into a train ticket, otherwise it is valid to invalid. Imagine our surprise when we have no device for it. We opted for help from the staff of the SNCF ask. He told us that, outside of France are not valid tickets, they just need the controller and show everyone.
At the end of our trip to the quiet but beautiful city of Luxembourg, two hours later we returned to the noisy, seething life of Paris.
